There are a few things in life that are so important I think we should do them every day. The first is to pray, the second is to exercise, and the third is to eat chocolate. My love for chocolate has evolved through the years from tootsie pops to kisses and now finally, decadent dark chocolate. Not just any dark chocolate will do. It has to be at least 90 percent cocoa. My husband accuses me of being a chocolate snob, but seriously, once you acquire a taste for this indulgence, nothing can take its place. I eat at least one small piece every day.

This month we have three features on sweet treats. Julie McMillan and Jordan Reed spent some time with Bill, Sue, and Elizabeth, the chocolatiers and owners of The Chocolate Fetish. Their award-winning morsels are hard to resist. For Sophie, Sue shares her own fondue recipe — a simple concoction of blended chocolate you can easily make in your own kitchen!

We also feature Tiffany Good, an amazing artist as well as baker in Where Women Create. In fact, Tiffany’s personality is as sweet as her cakes. Brenda Seright Williams and Michelle Baker spent an afternoon in Tiffany’s sugar-sweet creative space. Her cake designs will absolutely astonish you!

With little helpers in the kitchen, Betty Sharpless explains why it’s important to teach young children cooking skills. She also shares her delicious carrot cake recipe with us.

And if you’re in a creative mode, turn to Re-Creations, where Julie Bagamary’s idea for re-purposing small tins will give you a cute way to organize tiny objects. For Crafty Girl, Kathleen Lewis has a cute woven heart project in store, perfect for placing Valentine cards or candy inside.

Speaking of Valentine cards, who wouldn’t want to find a
Valentine surprise in their mailbox?! We couldn’t have a February issue without a little bit of sexy inspiration! Scott Thompson styled his models in perfect Pin-Up girl fashion. These fun and flirty “cards” remind us of old-fashioned romantic Valentines.

Whatever your plans are for this month, I hope you have lots of happiness, love, and chocolate!
